It's just a website

That phrase couldn't be further from the truth. It's never "just" a website. A website is so much more...

If you're a company, your website tells your story. If you're an individual, your website tells your story. Every nook and cranny of a website should have a meaning, or else it's a waste of space. Don't squander your inch of the internet with something misleading or bland. Get out there and tell your story.

I encourage everyone to build a website. However, the only thing worse than not having a website is having a terrible website. If you put a lame website out there, people will notice. Make sure you put some attention into your website, or else people will think poorly of you, or your brand.

Read up on the latest trends in web design to make sure you're not behind the times. God forbid you put something out there that is considered web 1.0. That would be embarrassing. You could also hire a web developer to spruce up your site, or do the whole thing for you.

I'll leave you with one last thought...you wouldn't say:

"it's just a song"

"it's just a book"

"it's just a painting"

etc.

Would you?

Then, don't say "it's just a website." Treat it like art.
