A Simple Man's Observations
I am a simple person. I do, on occasion, enjoy an expensive treat, and I do appreciate quality and will often pay for it, even if it's not a "simple" price. But I am simple.
It's not a bad thing. It grants me comfort. Familiarity. I buy new clothes when my old ones have holes, and in some cases just keep wearing them anyway. I have no problem eating the same thing for lunch every day (or every meal). It's just easy, especially with so much to think about.
Being simple also makes it easier to notice the subtle little changes in life. Ordering the same sandwich every day means recognizing when a truly exceptional one comes along. That could simply be an extra teaspoon of mayo, but I wouldn't know until I tasted it.
I think we forget to pay attention to the little things in our lives. This is just one more way for me to live up to my philosophy: "Never lose perspective."
